Not only is Afrox South Africa’s largest supplier of gases and welding accessories, it also supplies a full spectrum of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary in the welding and gases industries, complementing the total product offer.
The PPE range includes high quality foot, hand, face, eye, ear and head protection products developed for specific customer application. Ferdie Pretorius, the product manager for Safety equipment says the Afrox PPE range leverages off the company’s extensive knowledge of industrial safety processes, to offer the workman head-to-toe protection from injury and discomfort in the workplace. Whether for the home-handyman, or for the employees of professional manufacturing organisation, Afrox has the PPE to suit all requirements.
The company recently partnered with DOT Safety Footwear to broaden the range of foot protection and this extended range of footwear will soon be available from all Gas & Gear retail outlets.
Afrox also offers fume extraction as a solution where welding fumes are present, offering any mobile, fixed or custom installations to customers.
Safety is the main driver in product design. And nowhere is this more evident that in the development of our recently launched SMOOTHFLO™ single stage gas pressure regulators, one of the safest gas regulators in its class, says Lourens le Roux, product manager for Gas Equipment.
“Safety drives sales of gas equipment in today’s market and the added safety benefits that this regulator brings to the workplace have attracted immense interest, particularly from our key customers who regard safety as paramount.”
The break-off inlet stem is designed to ensure that should a cylinder and regulator be accidently impacted by a fall, the high performing excess-flow valve will automatically safely seal off gas discharge from the cylinder into the atmosphere.
Other safety features include a piston-embedded safety valve that eliminates the need for a diaphragm. Piston-driven technology produces excellent pressure stability at higher flow rates, which allows an operator to achieve greater gas cutting speeds. The ability to go from zero to maximum operating pressure in just three turns reduces the amount of set-up time required.
This is the first time that this combination of technologies has been applied to an industrial regulator, resulting in improved pressure stability across the entire working pressure range.
Afrox’s full range of products is showcased on its website at www.afrox.co.za. Alternatively, visitors at the annual Nosa Occupational Risk Management Conference and Exhibition (Noshcon) in September are invited to visit the Afrox stand, where many of these products will be on display.
