African Oxygen Limited (Afrox) has announced that South African Brett Kimber, currently Chief
Executive of industrial gases company Linde Korea, is to become the new Managing Director of
industrial gases, welding and safety products group, Afrox. His appointment as Managing Director is effective from January, 2012.
Kimber, aged 50, has held various senior positions in The Linde Group, Afrox’s majority shareholder. These include Global Business Manager for former BOC Edwards’ Bulk Gases Product Division in Singapore; Project Development Manager with Linde North America; various senior posts in Afrox between 1990 and 1998, and Senior Research Geologist with Anglo American Research Laboratory.
He holds a BSc Hons in Mineral Economics from the University of Johannesburg, BSc Hons in Geo-
Chemistry from the University of Cape Town and Bachelor of Science (BSc) with majors in
Chemistry and Geology from the University of Kwazulu Natal.
Kimber, who will be the tenth managing director in Afrox`s 84-year history, said: “To lead Afrox is a privilege I will shoulder with determination, drawing on a reservoir of practical experience gained
within the industrial gases sector in South Africa and internationally.
“My aspiration is to ensure the Afrox group continues as a great company, one of the icons of
industry in South Africa, and that it continues to grow for the benefit of customers, shareholders,
employees and the communities in which we operate.”
Afrox Chairman, Mike Huggon, commented: "In Brett Kimber, I believe we have a very worthy
