Check these important points when using our gas cylinders and equipment, as we cannot be held responsible for accidents resulting from any incorrect usage.
Do Not
- Alter the cylinder valves
- Loosen or remove the cylinder valves
- Light a torch without first testing the connections and joints for leaks
- Test for leaks with a flame - (always use recommended leak detection spray or solution)
- Use acetylene or Handigas cylinders placed in the horizontal position
- Hang a lighted torch over the cylinder valves and regulators or allow the flame to play over the cylinder
- Use a fine adjustment or needle valve in place of pressure regulators - these valves do not prevent pressure build-up when the torch valves are closed, with the result that the hose may burst
- Use copper hose connections or fittings with acetylene as explosive compounds may form
- Use oxygen in place of compressed air for any purpose whatsoever
DO
- Follow the correct sequence for assembling and lighting-up equipment
- Use the correct regulators and the recommended pressures at all times
- Use the correct spanners, spindle keys etc., for connecting and disconnecting equipment
- Use cylinder trolley or make sure that cylinders are firmly secured to a workbench or wall
- Close the cylinder valves and release the pressure in torches and regulators when the equipment is not in use, when moving the cylinders and when the cylinders are empty
- Keep cylinders away from cutting and welding slag and sparks
- Use acetylene cylinders in the upright position
