Afrox is leading the way with a full range of quality welding and cutting solutions which keep the business of farming running at full potential.
“We’re very much a one-stop-shop when it comes to supplying the equipment and consumables needed to service and maintain farming equipment,” says Glen Moult Regional Sales Manager – Eastern Cape . “As a value-added service, our specialists are also trained to advise farmers on the most suitable processes and applications for their individual needs.
“We’re focusing on cost-conscious farmers who service and maintain their own equipment and we’re committed to helping them achieve real savings on the self-fabrication of their ploughs, scarifiers and other farming equipment.
“Today’s sophisticated processes definitely require the kind of specialist technical support that Afrox is able to offer,” says Glen. “Different materials require specific welding consumables and this influences the welding machine set-up, as well as the shielding gases required. The wrong product choice could cause failure in the field, making the self-sufficiency option expensive, with re-fabrication and downtime costing the farmer dearly. It makes sense to buy a trusted brand, such as Afrox’s top quality products, to help grow a farming business for many years to come.”
Afrox has also recently introduced two new welding machines to its Transarc range of DC inverters. These are robust and reliable portable power sources which harness the latest global advances in inverter technology. The machines’ high duty cycle makes them ideally suitable for both maintenance and production environments in African work conditions.
A dedicated Afrox industrial welding range has been launched to cater for both light and medium fabrication requirements. On the MIG machine side, the range includes the Afrox Industrial 200C single phase inverter for light duty manufacturing; the compact 275C three phase machine with a built-in wire feeder developed for structural steel welding and general fabrication and the heavier duty 350R.
Afrox’s consumable range covers all the different welding processes such as Flux cored, MIG, MMA, and TIG welding. Each range of welding consumables offers conventional carbon steel material up to highly specialised types of material, such as creep resistant steel, nickel based alloys as well as non ferrous alloys.
Afrox is poised to launch a limited edition chromed version of its PortaPak® welding and cutting set, incorporating an all-new 2011 design, to commemorate this industry stalwart’s 30 years of service to South African industry. The PortaPak® meets a specific requirement in the agricultural sector for transporting welding and cutting equipment to difficult-to-get-to jobs. Afrox has made it light and robust, with a mass of only 29 kg, while still delivering industrial strength capabilities.
The new improved PortaPak® design features a sturdier and more robust trolley, larger wheels, an additional cylinder bracket to secure the cylinders and a more functional handle that replaces the single bar handle. As before, a lifting eye is provided at the centre of gravity to enable safe hoisting of the unit. The new design also incorporates an innovative combination torch with specific cutting and welding attachments. For easy transition to the latest model, all nozzles are fully interchangeable with the existing PortaPak® nozzles.
“Safety is our highest priority and we urge our farming customers to take the same approach and speak to us about ensuring that everyone using welding equipment on the farm is appropriately equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE),” says Glen.
The Afrox range of welding and cutting equipment, together with associated consumables, is available through co-ops, certain local distributors and Afrox retail outlets in the region.
