Hot on the heels of the introduction of the new AfroxPac 35i self-contained self-rescuers for mine workers, Afrox is launching the new heavy duty Saffire® Legend 916 range of heating, welding and cutting torches into the mining market.
Afrox is sub-Saharan Africa’s market leader in gases and welding products and offers a comprehensive range of products and services to the mining industry. “Afrox aims to offer its mining customers products that are cost-effective, economical, robust, durable and safe, which will add value to the different mining applications and processes,” says Gerhard van Wyk, business manager hardgoods at Afrox. “Our new Legend 916 forms part of the Afrox Saffire® premium range of cutting torches which has been specifically developed for the mining industry. The key feature of the Legend is that the control mechanism is positioned at the bottom of the torch, where miners prefer it to be. Some of the most important benefits of the Legend are that it is very robust, durable and safe, which is exactly what the mining environment requires,” comments van Wyk.
Afrox has served the needs of the mining sector over the past eighty years and is the leader in supplying industrial gas and welding process solutions. “We offer a wide range of mining application and process solution for the mining sector, from the first stages of ore extraction and mining, through to surface processing and mineral recovery. Our services support both surface and underground mining operational requirements in the following specific areas, including: general maintenance heating, cutting and welding; gas equipment maintenance, repair and replacement; PPE; self-contained self-rescuer packs, lamproom gas solutions; mine shaft cooling and ventilation; Goldox™ gold recovery technology; laboratory gas solutions; and water treatment technologies for cyanide destruction and acid mine drainage, specific to gold mining. We also provide mines with a no-cost, value-added consulting service to monitor and report on the condition and safety of the equipment that we sell to them in order to comply with legal requirements,” says Van Wyk.
